Get over the hump on humpday with a beautiful after-work hike to Sunset Rock on Lookout Mountain. We will begin at the parking area just before the Nature Center, and hike approx. 2 miles. This is an uphill hike most of the way and has some significant elevation gain, so be prepared. I plan on doing this hike every Wednesday (weather permitting) for a while, so if you can't make this one, there's always next week!

We will meet at the parking area on Garden Rd, on the right just before getting to the Nature Center and Reflection Riding. Garden Rd is off Cummings Highway in Tiftonia. If you take the Brown's Ferry exit from I-24, turn left on Brown's Ferry Rd, then left onto Cummings Hwy, right on Old Wauhatchie and then right on Garden Rd. If you're coming from downtown/St. Elmo, take Broad Street past Walgreen's and under the train overpass, and this becomes Cummings Hwy; Old Wauhatchie will be on your left, then Garden Rd will be on your right. If you need any assistance with directions, feel free to contact me via email. You can see a great map here:

The parking area is where the Kiddie Trail starts, which is where we will begin the hike.

To Pam....when we first started doing this hike after work, it would get dark on us before we made it back to the cars. Now that the time has changed a light is not as much of a necessity, but it's always a good idea for a few folks to have one in case there's a problem and things take longer than expected. I always bring one...just in case!

Since we have a bit more daylight now and to give folks a bit more time to get there, I've moved the start time back to 5:30 this week.

Enjoyed the hike and the group that went. See you all next week!
    •  It was a very good workout. I will be there next Wednesday.
    •  Wonderful people and wonderful hike. Can't wait to go again!
    •  Great Hike! Good Challenge! Wonderful Company. My first OACS hike and will not be the last! Considering this to be a 'group' hike, all things and skill levels considered, think this should be considered a 2 1/2 hour journey. Oh, my dog Action Jackson liked it too and was made to feel most welcome! Sweet!
