Please join us for a family scavenger hunt/hike/picnic at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at Greenway Farm in Hixson. The meet is designed for anyone with children, but those without are encouraged to come as well. Besides a kid's scavenger hunt, we may even have an adult scavenger hunt!

The event will begin with the scavenger hunt where we will pan out across Greenway Farm looking for berries, leaves, and different grasses. Since it is still winter it could be a challenge! We will then have a picnic where the adults can talk and the kids can play out on the field. The event will conclude with a small hike around North Chickamauga Creek that will be kid friendly. Not strenuous and hopefully fun.

I may be looking for one volunteer for this event as well for the hike. Anyone who knows the area around North Chick Creek, and can help with a guided tour, please email me. I'm looking for anyone who could either talk about history, biology, plant life or anything that could help keep the kids attentions as we go down into the creek. I have talked to the North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy and they expressed interest in finding someone to give us a tour. But if that falls through, I'd like to have an alternate in place.

Location: Hamill Road.

Directions: Take Highway 153 and turn onto Hamill Road. Go up Hamill Road approximately two to three miles. Once you cross the bridge, the entrance to Greenway Farm is on the right. We will meet in the second parking lot next to the restrooms.

Recommended items: Camera, blankets for picnic, food and kids (if you got 'em)

Note: I will bring some bags for the things we pick up and some pens to cross off items we gather. If you want to bring your own, that's fine as well!
